RACISM
Recently I have been in situation and have been noticing more and more racism towards the "look alike" of middle eastern descendant and Asian (Indian). It has increased ever since the bombing of 9/11, but I'm not getting into that. It just happens that its related/increased since then.
This past weekend, I was in central Jersey where there are more "colored" people then where I live (In south Jersey). So what happened was, we were going to Target and we were driving around looking for a parking spot, and we saw a car pulling out so we signaled it; at the same time we saw another car pulling towards the same spot but we didn't see any signal or anything. So as soon as the car pulled out we pulled in. As we're walking out the car, this lady is yelling at us out of her car; and she said "you people don't belong in this country", I turned around walked up to her and cussed her out, and then she wanted to pull her club out, and all the other Bs. Then we just went into the store, and we realized what if she does some damage on the car so we went out and she was waiting as soon as she saw us she drove away.
Today I was checking my e-mail, and usually I get party/promotion e-mails for parties and stuff. Well today the subject is a bit different. It read "APOLOGIES FOR LAST FRIDAY @ EUGENE" I'll post the e-mail here so it's easier to read instead of me explaining everything.
This is addressed to all loyal patrons of our events and those who took the time out to RSVP, and show up in the rain for the event that was scheduled to be held at Eugene this past Friday night, June 14th, 2002.
On behalf of all team members, DJs, and YIP door staff, we would like to sincerely apologize for the disaster that occurred last Friday at Eugene. In a never ending effort to continue to bring venues that our esteemed South Asian Professional following desires, after being the FIRST to hold events at world class venues (Tavern On the Green, Russian Tea Room, Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Saci, Ohm, etc.) we strove to once again go the EXTRA MILE to bring you an exclusive event at Eugene.
It turns out, like many of you found out that night, we discovered THE HARD WAY, Eugene's RACIST DOOR POLICY. From the second we arrived, we were mistreated, our door staff was mistreated, and our DJs were mistreated - all because of our ethnic origin. When our people had arrived, they were informed BLATANTLY by EUGENE DOOR STAFF AND MANAGEMENT that "IF YOU ARE HERE FOR THE YIP INDIAN PARTY, GET OFF THE LINE BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT GETTING IN!" This is not consistent with the freedoms and liberties of the country we live in - the same country that many of our families have worked hard to emigrate to, in order to give us a better life.
Pending a legal investigation of the situation, we are urging all South Asians and all "people of color" to boycott Eugene based on its racist beliefs, practices, and profiling. It is a known fact that South Asians have had a long-standing affinity towards this venue. Many of us have frequented it from time to time, and it's about time we stopped funneling OUR HARD EARNED MONEY to keep in business an establishment that has no appreciation or gratitude for it.
We will be hosting a COMPLIMENTARY OPEN BAR EVENT WITH APPETIZERS AND A BUFFET within the next couple of weeks to make this up to all of you.
Again we want to sincerely apologize for what happened, which was through no fault of ours, and do what's right to make amends.
Please join us for our GRAND RETURN to the SACI NIGHTCLUB, where we have COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE DOOR, for our "Summer Luau - Part II," this Friday June 21st, the FIRST OFFICIAL DAY OF SUMMER.

My Theory:
Based on what I have learned and seen, I strongly believe that it hasn't changed much only that there are more colored people and there is more racism then when there was only black and white.
Before it was Black and White, everyone knows the history/story. We now live in a country with many different ethnic, background, race, color, and religion. My friend and I were discussing this one-day, and she happens to mention that, now a day's racism is seen from a different perspective. Where as before it was only white, black and Hispanic. Today we have Middle Eastern (ME), Asian, etc. It has gotten to the point where white, black and Hispanic are the inferiority and Asian, ME, other are the minorities and we're seen as immigrants and stuff. It has taken the heat of the Black and Hispanic and moved towards the ME, Asians, and others. Since the 9/11 is has increased even more, that every "brown colored" person is looked at differently. To put it into simple words I suppose that's the human way, to see, hate, learn, and like (or in other cases hate even more)
